(NORWALK, Conn.)--Capital University senior quarterback Rocky Pentello (Columbus/Westerville South) was named first team All-American by D3football.com. Pentello was one of four Crusaders named All-American.
The four selections tie the school-record for All-Americans in a single-season which was set in 2005.
Pentello, an All-American in 2003, led the Crusader offense with a school-record and nation's best 3,625 yards passing and 36 passing touchdowns. He was the 2006 Mike Gregory Award winner as the top offensive back in the Ohio Athletic Conference along with being a first team All-OAC and All-North Region selection.
Capital junior wide receiver Derick Alexander (Grove City/Grove City) was named to the All-American second team. In his first year at Capital, Alexander became just the third receiver in school history to post over 1,000 yards receiving with 1,093 yards and 11 touchdowns on his way to All-OAC first team and All-North Region honors.
Seniors in center Josh Kinniard (Lancaster/Lancaster) and tight end Dylan Kelly (Hilliard/Hilliard Darby) rounded out the selections on the All-American third team. Kinniard, an All-OAC and All-North Region second team pick, was the starting center for all 13 games this season and helped anchor the offensive line for an offense that was nation's No. 5 rated pass offense. Kelly, the All-OAC and All-North Region first team tight end, had 46 catches for 778 yards and 10 touchdowns.
