First off- my apologizes for not posting in the month of December. It was crazy and hectic and before I knew it, I was home- sitting on my big green sectional couch basking in all the holiday glory.
But it is now a New Year, I am no longer a teenager, and I'm ready to rock this blog entry for my adoring fans. (thanks Mommy and Daddy! ;) I present to you:
"Sorry- I Don't Do Grey's" (and Other Less Shocking Marta Confessions)
You heard it right, TV fans. I don't watch Grey's Anatomy. Every time I newly reveal that fact about myself it seems to be the equvilant of me saying "I don't like the Beatles" in 1964. Nonetheless- it's true. I simply never started watching it when it first came on, and I have no intentions on picking it up now. If picking up Grey's Anatomy from the beginning required to me watch as much LOST and America's Next Top Model as I did over my break, I highly doubt it would be worth it. Trust me- I watched all 7 years of Top Model during the marathon on VH1- those are 4 straight days I will never get back.
While everyone and their grandma watches McSteamy and McDreamy and McWhoCares (oops I made that up)- I present to you some less shocking confessions to explain what I do instead. I realize these cover bases far beyond an explanation of Thursday nights from 9-10, but when a Grey's obsession has you talking about it and talking its lingo all week long, I figured this list isn't over the top.
While YOU are obessed with Grey's Anatomy:
- I plan events for University Programming- Last week we had a amazing comedian/magician named Michael Kent. Nearly 300 Cap kids showed up. It was quite the night.
-I do my thang with Pi Phi Epsilon- Recruitment time is here- that means recruitment parties and loads of springtime fun with the girls in green. I also help make the green for the gals in green. Anyone have any ideas for good fundraisers...darn- I gotta get on that....
-I partake in random hallway gatherings- From random chatter to even more random hair dying parties- and even MORE random- me eating corn watching people go by (i.e- my choice activity tonight)- Everything's better when you step out of your room and step into the hallway!
-I spend countless hours at my desk- One of my resolutions was to separate my "living space" from my "work space"- Since my room-life revolves around my computer- thats just hard to accomplish. As a result, my roommmate and I can be found staying up WAY too late downloading classic tunes (this week was Aerosmith and Genesis week), youtubing until we are weak in the eyes, and finding countless other ways to waste time looking at the computer.
the FINAL thing I'm doing in place of being obsessed with Grey's...
-Remember that thing called reality TV? Yeah- I'm still hooked on it. Pretty soon the new Survivor season with start and I will hear countless quips like "You still watch that?" Yes I do. I have a Survivor buff. Leave me alone.
There's also a little show called American Idol that they might as well hook to my veins-cause I can't cope without it! Although this first week has really dealt a stinker. I am so over the glorifying the staged bad people for 10 minutes. You might be laughing naiive America, but I see right through the stunt. (That doesn't mean I want you to pull my American Idol I.V yet...please- I need it.) But for this viewer's sake... bring on the Hollywood rounds!!
Oh dear. That post was long- and towards the end, you got quite the earfull...I mean eyefull of what kind of ranting Marta can do about pop culture. You all keep raving about Grey's and we'll call it even.
That's It and That's All,
Marta
