Stephen Long Named Interim Director of Blackmore Library
Associate Provost Steve Bruning recently announced Stephen Long will serve as interim director of Blackmore Library.
Long has agreed to serve as Capital’s interim library director beginning Feb. 5, and continuing until the library director position is filled permanently. The library's current director, Al Maag, will retire Feb. 2.
In his current position, Long is responsible for overseeing the library’s Technical Services department, installing new library software, trouble-shooting problems with the online catalog, serving as music librarian, and participating as Capital’s co-lead implementer to the OhioLINK consortium. Long has been a librarian at Capital University since 1990 and has served as Technical Services and Systems librarian since 2001.
He has a master’s degree in library science from Kent State University and a master’s degree in music theory from The Ohio State University. Long has presented papers at European conferences of the International Association of Music Libraries and the International Musicological Society, and has published musicology articles in professional music journals.
