Four Capital Football Players Named All-Americans By Football Gazette

(WESTMONT, Ill.)--Junior wide receiver Derick Alexander (Grove City/Grove City), senior tight end Dylan Kelly (Hilliard/Hilliard Darby), junior placekicker Matt Spitz (Xenia/Xenia) and junior defensive back James Starks (Toledo/Toledo-St. Francis) have been named All-Americans by Football Gazette.

Alexander was the only Crusader to earn first team honors.  In his first year at Capital, he became just the third receiver in school history to post over 1,000 yards receiving with 1,093 yards and 11 touchdowns on his way to All-OAC first team and All-North Region honors.

Kelly, named to the All-American Second Team, was the All-OAC and All-North Region first team tight end, had 46 catches for 778 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Spitz, a two-time All-OAC and All-North Region selection, bested his own school-record with 85 kicking points this season.  Spitz earned All-American honorable mention honors and was also an All-American last season.

Starks, an All-OAC first team and All-North Region pick, led the team with four interceptions and was second on the team with 73 tackles on his way to All-American honorable mention honors.

Capital went a school-record 11-2 this past season and advanced to the NCAA National Quarterfinals for a second straight year before being eliminated by eventual national champion Mount Union College, 17-14.
