The Schumacher Gallery’s ‘Dealers’ Choice’ To Offer Taste of Columbus Art Scene

The Schumacher Gallery will offer a sampling of Central Ohio’s vast art scene with “Dealers’ Choice,” which will run Monday, March 5, through Saturday, March 31.

Ohio’s capital city offers such a wealth of museum and gallery experiences that it has been ranked one of the top 10 art destinations in the nation. Just 25 years ago, Columbus had only a few commercial art venues. Now, it is home to dozens of galleries and an art market that generates millions of dollars annually.

In “Dealers’ Choice,” Capital University’s Schumacher Gallery invites the directors of seven of the city’s prominent commercial galleries to select works by artists they represent to show the array of styles and options offered in Central Ohio. Participants include Art Access Gallery, Bryan H. Roberts Gallery, Hammond Harkins Galleries, Hawk Galleries, Keny Galleries, Sharon Weiss Gallery and Sherrie Gallerie.

Each has an interesting story to tell: How they started; the direction they have taken; and how they choose their artists. This exhibition will provide opportunity to learn about the galleries represented and to investigate the joy of art collecting. The exhibit features paintings, glass works, ceramics and a few surprises.

A meet-the-artists opening reception will be held from 5-7 p.m. at the gallery on Friday, March 9.
