Well, Franklin county is under a snow advisory and class is canceled. I'm sure everyone in Ohio reading this is out of school today as well. This is actually a nice little break because I have some homework to catch up on and some projects to get started.
I am helping with Empty Bowls (sponsored by the Student Social Work Association, SSWA), which is where groups volunteer to make clay bowls and then we hold a soup dinner to raise awareness about hunger. All of our proceeds go to the Mid-Ohio Food Bank. It's really exciting and the first BIG project I've helped with. It's going well thus far. Oh, and the SSWA is also helping a school in Akron collect 13 million pennies to remember the 13 million Holocaust victims. It's called Pennies for People. People think I'm crazy walking around with a box full of pennies, asking for spare change. Anyways, it should be a success. I'm really enjoying social work - MARCH IS SOCIAL WORK MONTH and my friend Rachel and I are heading up a little information table to inform people about what social workers do. Everything should be great!
Mid terms are creeping up on me. One that I know of is a take home essay, which is sweet! That's Global Awareness, and as I said in my last blog, I've really grown to like that class. This is our second day of no school - so I've really just been catching up on homework and getting ahead in some cases.
I had my overnight visitors which was very exciting. Hi to those girls if they are reading =). It was pretty cool. We went to Cup-O-Joe, which is just so convienently placed on Main Street (across from campus) and then Starbucks is right down from there. Oh, Main street gets me in trouble.
Oh, and my hall is having a really sweet program! My RA is planning a "How Well Do You Know Your Roommate?" Contest and I'm sure my roommmate and I will win because we're sweet and basically know each other like the back of our hands. There's some stiff competition but we'll do good!
Finally, HAPPY VALENTINES TO EVERYONE and particularly MY BOYFRIEND! There's also a Wicked Wednesday event tonight for singles, speed dating and such, should be fun for those who attend. Well, that's all folks.
