Homecoming Weekend 2009!

Our alumni and friends chose many different roads once they left Capital University, but we hope you will follow the road back to your alma mater for Homecoming Weekend 2009.

Activities for the mind, body and spirit are planned – everything from a golf outing and athletic events to a worship service and musical events. So plan now to renew old aquaintances, make new friends, take part in fun for all ages and join us Oct. 9-11.

The weekend will include lots of events, including reunions for the following classes:

Class of 1964: 45-year reunion
Class of 1969: 40-year reunion
Class of 1974: 35-year reunion
Class of 1979: 30-year reunion
Class of 1984: 25-year reunion
Class of 1989: 20-year reunion
Class of 1994: 15-year reunion
Class of 1999: 10-year reunion
Class of 2004: Five-year reunion

Friday, Oct. 9

8:30 a.m. – Golf Outing
Foxfire Golf Course
Shotgun start/scramble
Tee-off – 9:15 a.m.
Cost: $75 per player, includes greens fee, practice range, cart, bag drop, continental breakfast, buffet lunch, golf ball and prizes.

1 to 7:30 p.m. – Schumacher Gallery
Lee and Grant: Made possible through NEH on the Road, this exhibit features historic materials on the lives of these two Civil War generals.

4 to 5 p.m. - Schumacher Gallery
Book Signing and Reception with author Robert Hatton
William James Smith's Memoirs of the Second Ohio Volunteer Cavalry, Company M
Edited by Robert W. Hatton, Professor Emeritus of Modern Languages at Capital University, and the great-grandson of William James Smith.
The Schumacher Gallery will remain open until 7 p.m. this evening.

6 p.m. – Young Alumni Happy Hour

6 p.m. – Open House and Reception
The Alumni House
The classes of 1964, 1969, 1974, 1979, 1984, 1989 and 1994 are invited to an open house at The Alumni House, 2361 E. Mound Street
Cost: $8 per person

8 p.m. – Choral Celebration

Featuring the Chapel Choir, Choral Union and Women's Chorus

Saturday, Oct. 10

9:15 a.m. – Crusader Canter
2-mile walk/run
Cost: $15, early registration until Sept. 15; $18 after Sept. 15

10 a.m. – Heritage Society Brunch

The Plaza at Mound Street (rain location: Field House, The Capital Center)
Live music provided by the Happy Trails Band, featuring Capital alumni Ross Irvine '08, Kevin Bourassa '08, Aaron Oakley '09, and Matt Opachick '09.
