Sleeping, Eating and More
You’re sure to find a place of your own in the midst of Capital's friendly campus community. In fact, you can't be around Capital too long before you start hearing about the "Cap Family" - the network of friends, professors, staff and even community members that provides students with support and friendship during their time at Capital. Whether you're hanging out in the residence halls, snacking at the Crusader Club or working out at The Capital Center, you'll soon find yourself part of the Cap Family, too.
Choose Your Home
Capital's residence halls are the hubs of activity on campus. Sure, you'll sleep there, but they're also where you'll make new friends, study with your classmates, do your laundry, hone your Xbox or Playstation skills and perfect the fine art of hanging out.
Before you move in you're going to have to make some choices. Which kind of hall do you want to live in? Choose from traditional housing, suite-style living, or apartments (although apartments are usually limited to upperclassmen). They all come with broadband Internet, voicemail service and cable TV connections.
To learn more about your housing options and all six of our residence halls, see our online Undergraduate Viewbook . More questions? Our Residence Life and Housing Office is available to answer your questions about living on campus.
Eating on Campus
You can choose from three different meal plans (PDF), ranging from 125 meals to 225 meals per semester. (Current Capital students and those who have deposited should visit the inside.capital.edu site.) The Capital Court, located on the second floor of the Campus Center, offers a wide variety of eating options, including:
- Home-cooked, traditional meals
- A Whole Body Cuisine program featuring nutritionally balanced meals for healthy living
- A well-stocked salad bar
- Mongolian barbecue
- Fresh-baked pizza
- Make-your-own deli sandwiches
Downstairs on the first floor, the Crusader Club has grilled foods like hamburgers, along with deli subs, prepared paninis and other to-go foods. The Barista Café, located inside the Crusader Club, offers coffee, espresso, cappuccinos, lattes and more.
To make the transition from high school to college easier, you will take part in student orientation sessions during the summer and when you start in the fall. If you are a student of color, our Office of Multicultural Affairs also coordinates the Smooth Transitions program to help you build a successful foundation for college and get to know other students of color.
