(PATASKALA, Ohio)--Capital University junior Mike Ott (Columbus/Franklin Heights) finished in a tie for eighth place with a 151 (73-78) to earn All-Ohio Athletic Conference honors at the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Golf Championship at Cumberland Trail Golf Course in Pataskala, Ohio. The Crusaders placed seventh with a two-day total of 639 (316-323).
Ott became the first Capital golfer since Tyler Anderson in 2004 to earn All-OAC honors by placing in the top-10 in the conference tournament. He was just four strokes out of first place that was a tie between Dan Fisher of Muskingum College and Nate Mullen of Mount Union College. Fisher won Medalist honors on the second hole of a playoff.
Capital's 639 left them 10 strokes shy of fifth place Baldwin-Wallace College. Freshman Scott King (Fremont/Fremont Ross) posted back-to-back 79's (158) to finish in a tie for 20th place, while freshmen James Koon (Bexley/Bexley) (82-85) and Darren Wagner (Canal Winchester/Canal Winchester) (82-85) each carded a 167 and Dan Zaborsky (Dublin/Dublin Scioto) had a 169 (88-81).
Mount Union College won its second-ever OAC men's golf title and first since 1953 with a two-day total of 595 (296-299). The Purple Raiders take the conference's automatic bid to the 2007 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship.
Capital coach Greg Kline was named OAC Coach of the Year in a vote done by the league's coaches. Kline was the first Capital coach since Don Charlton in 1995 to win the award.
