Thornhill Finishes Fifth in 110m Hurdles at NCAA Track Championships; First Capital All-American Since 1978
Capital University senior Nate Thornhill (Xenia/Xenia) finished fifth in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 14.98 at the NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships Saturday in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Thornhill became the first Crusader since Rick Meindl (shot put) in 1978 to earn All-American honors.
Freshman Jessica Starks (Akron/Akron East) finished 17th in the 100 meter dash Friday with a time of 12.59. Starks along with sophomores Lizzy Stanton (Cincinnati/Withrow) and Tana Myers (Ashland/Mapleton) and freshman Brittany Carter (Westerville/Westerville South) finished 14th in the 4x100 meter relay Thursday running their third-best time of the year at 48.49.

Three Crusaders Named Academic All-OAC Track & Field(AUSTINTOWN, Ohio)--Capital University seniors Nate Thornhill (Xenia/Xenia), Charlie Smith (Westerville/Big Walnut) and Amanda Hartman (Groveport/Canal Winchester) were all Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference Track & Field selections.
Capital Women Fourth and Men Fifth at OAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships(BEREA, Ohio)--Capital University's women's track & field team finished fourth, while the men placed fifth at the Ohio Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio. The women's 4x100 relay team of sophomores Lizzy Stanton (Cincinnati/Withrow) and Tana Myers (Ashland/Mapleton) with freshmen Brittany Carter (Westerville/Westerville South) and Jessica Starks (Akron/Akron East) won the OAC title and set a conference record with a time of 48.23. Senior Nate Thornhill (Xenia/Xenia) claimed the OAC title in the 110-meter hurdles (14.81).
Gibbons Provisionally Qualifies for NCAA in Pole Vault in Athens(ATHENS, Ohio)--Capital University's sophomore Doug Gibbons (Troy/Troy) provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships in the pole vault at the 2007 Ohio Open in Athens, Ohio on Saturday. Gibbons won the event with a school-record vault of 15-06.
Men 4x100 Meter Relay Provisionally Qualifies for NCAA in Toledo(TOLEDO, Ohio)--Capital University's men's 4 x 100 meter relay provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships Friday at the 22nd Annual Toledo Invitational. The relay team of freshman Jesse Ramirez (Howard/East Knox), junior Desmond Taylor (Toledo/Toledo St. John's), senior Trent Hinton (Columbus/Whetstone), and junior Derick Alexander (Grove City/Grove City) placed second with a time of 41.82 seconds.
Record Setting Day at Kenyon Invitational(GAMBIER, Ohio)--Capital University's women's track and field team broke school records in the 800 meter run and the 4x400 meter relay at the Kenyon Invitational Saturday in Gambier, Ohio.
Thornhill Posts NCAA Provisional in 110 Hurdles at Marv Frye Invite(DELAWARE, Ohio)--Capital University senior Nate Thornhill (Xenia/Xenia) posted a provisional qualifying time to the NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships in the 110 meter hurdles as he won the event with a time of 14.88 at the Marv Frye Track & Field Invitational at Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio.
Capital Women Place Third, Men Fifth at OAC Quad Meet(WILMINGTON, Ohio) -- Freshman Brittany Luc (Fremont/Fremont St. Joseph) set a personal record and won the women’s discus to help Capital University’s women’s track and field team garner a third place finish at the Ohio Athletic Conference Quad Meet at Wilmington College Saturday.
Fausnaugh Named OAC Field Athlete of the Week
(AUSTINTOWN, Ohio)--Capital University senior Adam Fausnaugh (Asheville/Teays Valley) was named Ohio Athletic Conference Track & Field Athlete of the Week.
Fausnaugh set a school record with a second place finish in the weight throw and placed third in the shot put at the Rick Meindl Last Call Invite last week at The Capital Center.
Fausnaugh will lead the rest of the Capital Indoor Track & Field teams at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships this Friday and Saturday at Ohio Northern University in Ada, Ohio.
