If experience is the best teacher, consider the Capital University women's soccer team well-schooled with six seniors among the seven returning starters and 15 returning letterwinners back for the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament champions and NCAA Tournament team from a year ago.
The top five scorers are all back from a Crusader squad that was the conference's second-best scoring team a year ago. Headlining the returners are All-OAC forwards in senior Kara Martin along with sophomores Natasha Ballard and Molly Sheils. Senior midfielder Rebecca Gardlik and sophomore forward Sarah Hagan round out the rest of the returning starters up front.
In fact the only question for sixth-year head coach Dwight Burgess is in goal where sophomore Erica Shannon takes over for two-time OAC Goalkeeper of the Year Courtney Allan. In front of the goal, all-conference senior Abby Skoda and junior Julie Horton anchor the defense.
