Battelle Hall of Science and Nursing

Experience hands-on learning in labs equipped with modern computerized instrumentation specific to science, math, computer science, computational studies and nursing.

Battelle Hall of Science and Nursing
in Battelle Hall of Science and Nursing, the main science building on campus, you'll grow living cells in the state-of-the-art molecular biology laboratory or perform DNA fingerprint analysis in the biochemistry lab. Leafy rain forest plants and spindly grassland flora make up some of the biomes housed in the two-story greenhouse stretching along one side of the facility.

  • Students in computational studies perform complex symbolic, numeric and many other computations in the Advanced Computational Studies Lab. Sunblade 100 Sun Microsystems computers and "fast Ethernet" workstations enable realistic simulations of parallel supercomputing in the Battelle Visualization Laboratory.

  • Nursing students use SIM-Man Patient Simulators, specialized nursing software and high-speed microcomputers for computer simulations. A cutting-edge practice facility offers hands-on experience.

  • Chemistry and environmental science classes use FTIR Spectrometers, HPLC, ion and gas chromatographs, UV-Vis spectrometers and an atomic absorption spectrometer in the Chemistry Instrumental Lab.

  • Build oral comprehension and expression in the Language Lab, with sophisticated software, 25 computer stations, online foreign dictionaries and handheld devices that allow private communication with professors.
