Multicultural Resource Center

Accessible Cultural Information

The Multicultural Resource Center (MRC) was established in 1998 as a place for students to convene and explore issues of diversity within the Capital Community and beyond. As awareness of an increasingly global society grew, the need for accessible cultural information and resources led to the development of the center.

Resources for You

The MRC provides the entire Capital community with a wide variety of books, magazines, and videos. You can use these for class projects or just personal enjoyment.

You'll have been able to incorporate several other programs and initiatives geared toward promoting critical thinking & management skills within a diverse setting. These programs include the Post-Graduation Professional Development Series and Leadership Lab. These programs are structured to provide additional support and resources for students of color students interested in attending professional and/or graduate school, acquiring a summer internship, or initiating a successful job search.

C.U.R.V.E. (Collectively Understanding, Respecting and Valuing differences through Education) is a student organization that meets regularly in the MRC. We feel that C.U.R.V.E. provides multiple opportunities for open discussion about issues of diversity in a safe and welcoming environment.

The Multicultural Resource Center is open for a limited number of hours throughout the week. The hours during which it will be staffed are posted on the door of the center each semester. For more information concerning hours of operation, please contact Ms. Amber Hampton, the MRC Student Coordinator, at 614/236-6452 or ahampton@capital.edu.

Also, the MRC is available for use as a meeting room and/or study area during unscheduled hours. The MRC is available weekdays and evenings to you and student organizations for checkout. To check out the key, please see the receptionist on the first floor of Kerns (during standard office hours). Students will need a Capital ID card to check out the key.

For additional information about the Multicultural Resource Center or any of its initiatives, please call (614) 236-6711.
