(CINCINNATI, Ohio)--Capital University's volleyball team, ranked No. 16 in the nation, won three of four matches this weekend at the College of Mount St. Joseph Invitational after defeating Transylvania (Ky.) University, 3-0 (30-14, 30-21, 30-28) and host Mt. St. Joseph, 3-1 (25-30, 30-26, 30-22, 30-24). On Friday, the Crusaders beat Lake Erie College, 3-0 (30-15, 30-14, 30-16), then lost to No. 8 ranked Carthage (Wis.) College, 3-1 (27-30, 31-29, 30-26, 34-32) Friday at the Mt. St. Joseph Invitational in Cincinnati, Ohio.
All-American senior Jessie Hampson (Lancaster/Lancaster) led the way against host Mt. St. Joseph with 26 kills and 9 blocks, while Jenna Zumberger (DeGraff/Fairlawn) had 54 assists.
Capital (5-4) travels next weekend to the Westminster Volley Against Violence Tournament in New Wilmington, Pa.
