About Student Rights and Standards

Welcome to Student Rights and Standards

  • We foster and protect freedom of thought, opinion and academic study for the Capital University community.

  • We encourage the scholarly and civic development of students in a safe and secure learning environment, and protect the people, properties and processes that support the university and its mission.

Your Responsibility to Your Community

Our staff will work with you to help you grow and understand your responsibilities within your community. As a model community member you can influence the behavior of others to ensure an effective learning environment where all members of the Capital Family can grow and succeed.

What Every Student Should Know outlines all of the expectations for academic and student conduct on our campus and within our community. (Individual chapters of that document are listed below.) The policies, procedures and information in these documents preserve and establish academic freedom and free and open exchange of ideas and opinions for all members of Capital University. This free and open exchange is central to the mission of the university.

Come Ask Us Your Questions

Students who have questions about policy violations or the judicial process are encouraged to visit the Associate Dean of Students & Director of Student Rights and Standards in the Office of Student Affairs on the first floor of the Capital Center.

Best wishes for personal and academic success!
