  1. "Spring Semester and Mono...."

    Hello to all!!

I am so sorry it has taken me so long to write to you all. I have had quite the eventful Christmas and beginning of Spring Semester. So here it goes!! I will start with Christmas Break!!

I went to Las Vegas, Nevada to visit my family for two weeks. It was a lot of fun but crazy trying to take care of 4 kids and baby-sit 6. My cousin is a saint for doing it all alone everyday! My Christmas was amazing; I got to see my family. I got awesome presents and my family loved the presents I got them (always a plus). I also had a great birthday which was two days after we returned from break, I am 20 now!!

Spring Semester started and I am not as busy credit hour wise as I was last semester but still extremely busy. I am still taking a lot of French classes and I am in a Native American History and Culture class which is so interesting. I am planning on studying abroad to France in the fall semester next year. I am so excited because I am going with one of my best friends who is studying similar things here at Cap but I am also extremely scared and nervous. I don’t know how I will do in the classes while I am there! I guess we will see.... :-)

Pi Phi had rush in the beginning of the semester and we are now going into bigger and better things. We have 9 great new girls and we love them all so much! It is exciting being on the active side this year and being apart of everything. Pi Phi was honestly one of the best decisions I have made in my college career. Hope all my Pi Phi ladies are having a great Spring Break!! I miss you all and love you dearly!!

The reason I have not been able to write in the last month or so is because I got Mono. I have never had it but it takes every little bit of energy out of me that I have. I am just now getting back to work and I am trying so hard to keep up with school and everything. I hope no one has to get this and if you have had it, I am so sorry!

Another great thing this semester that has changed is that I am an RA! I have great girls and I love it! It is so much fun and I hope to do this for the rest of my college career. It is very rewarding and you get to know lots of great girls and bond with new people.

Well I hope that you all are having a great spring so far (even though it technically still isn’t spring yet, ha-ha). Spring is one of my favorite seasons so bring on the warm weather!!

    Talk to you all later!!

  2. "The Routine" Dun...Dun...Duuuunnnn

    Hey Guys!!

So, I want to start off with saying that when going to school, never take 20 credit hours! I can handle a lot of stress, but this is so much! Well, if you want to and can handle it I guess go ahead. LoL, but it is hard let me tell you….

I have a routine everyday, (which doesn’t change whether I have 20 credit hours or not) and yet there is always something to surprise me during the day. I always have something at 8 O’clock whether I work or have class. Then, I have more classes, then I do as much homework as possible, slack off a little bit, (you’ll learn to do the same thing….don’t worry ;-)) then wish I had more time to get things done, I normally always have something in the evening, and it ends with me up late doing homework or not being able to fall asleep.

It takes me about half the semester to really 100% grasp my schedule. This semester (of course!!) takes me until just about now to really grasp it all. Guess what everyone! The semester has about three weeks including finals! Yay! I have now gotten the routine down and now I get to learn another one….

The good thing is, as stressful as this semester was and is, I can look back and be happy with my work. I am amazed at how much I really could do and get done. Now again with that said, I will NOT be taking this many credit hours next semester or ever again (if I can help it). Ha-ha. I do wish all of those people luck, who have decided to take a bunch of credit hours!

I wish every a Happy Thanksgiving!! I will be back to tell you about mine, so I want to hear about yours!! :-D

    Until next time,

    Sarah

  3. First Three Weeks Of School....Woot Woot!!

    Hey guys!!

I hope everyone is doing well now that most of you should have started school by now. I have now been in school for three weeks and I am busy! I am finally realizing what I did to myself when scheduling classes for this semester. I am 20 credit hours this semester. I am going crazy! Amazingly enough I am handling it pretty well, but it is hard. I honestly do not think I would have it any other way. Yes, it is hard but I enjoy my classes this semester and couldn’t see myself with a lighter load.

I have two 300 level French classes and those are kicking me in the butt. They are interesting though. I find myself catching on to more everyday and improving my speaking, which makes me very happy. I am also taking two classes for my International Studies major and three classes for my Music minor. It is a full semester but I am very excited to be here and seeing everyone back on campus again.

So far on campus, we have had quite a few fun activities already. We have had a “Back to Cap” week where the University Programming put on a week of fun activities around campus. They had a movie night on Schaaf Lawn, Foam Party, and Block Party each evening of the week. Every “Wicked Wednesday” so far has been really fun and I encourage students to attend them. You will meet a lot of new people and make new friends. Plus it is always a great time and a time to relax in the middle of the week. The past couple weeks Greek life has been doing cool things around campus, and there will be much more cool activities on campus for students to get involved in. I feel that Capital has gotten off to a good start and I can not wait for all the more exciting times to come this semester and this year.

I hope that all of you are enjoying your classes and that if you are looking into a college, make sure you look at the places you enjoy and lots of times! The more you see something the better decision you can make!

    Until next time,

    Sarah

  4. Get ready for School!!

    Hey All!!

It’s me again!! Hope you have had a great summer and I hope you are ready for school to start soon.

I am so excited to be writing my second Blog. I have now been moved in to Capital for the past two weeks, and I love it!! I am a Resident Assistant Alternate this year. I am very excited about it. Training was interesting. We got to attend many interesting presentations and play fun icebreakers (I really like those games; I know, I am a nerd….). I feel it will be a great year. The Residence Life staff has a lot of cool ideas for this year and plan to improve many things. So, I hope that students will join in on all the cool, fun, and exciting events/things that the staff is putting together.

School is about to start in a couple of days. This is very nerve wrecking sometimes because I don’t know if I am ready to start yet. I have a heavy load this semester and I hope that I can handle it. I am excited to see all my friends and sisters that I haven’t talked to in about three months. If I haven’t mentioned before, I joined a sorority on campus last semester called Pi Phi Epsilon. It has been an amazing journey so far and I can’t wait for more fun times to come. If you are interested in Greek Life, definitely ask questions, lots of questions and check it out, see if it is for you. They are all amazing groups of people.

I will be back to update you on exciting events here at Capital soon!! Hope to hear from you.

  5. The First Blog....

    Hello All,

My name is Sarah Jewell. I am going to be a sophomore here at Capital. I am majoring in French and International Studies; I also have a minor in Music focusing in voice. I play the drums but that is a hobby for me seeing as there is only 24 hours in a day and 7 days a week. I Love to sing so that is why I chose voice over percussion. My issue with that is that I have a horrible case of stage fright. I try so hard to sing in front of people and it never seems to be right. I am hoping to overcome that this year. My voice lessons have helped me tremendously.

My first year at Cap was amazing. I didn’t know what to expect from this place. At the end of the year I found myself not wanting to leave. Wanting to stay and keep going, the end scared me. Here at Capital I found my family and my home. I never thought that I could find a place that I loved so much. I can’t wait until August when the R.A.’s get to move in early for training and I can see people again. I will be there two weeks early and ready to go. To see everyone and catch up on their lives and their summers, this will be an amazing day. :-D

    Until next time,

    Sarah
