(AUSTINTOWN, Ohio)--Capital University senior placekicker Matt Spitz (Xenia/Xenia) was named Ohio Athletic Conference Special Teams Player of the Week.
Spitz made three field goals (32, 32, 30) in the first half that kept the Crusaders in the game and gave them a 9-7 lead at the half. Capital then exploded for 28 second half points in a 37-13 victory, in which Spitz converted four extra points to give him 13 points for the game.
On the season, Spitz, an All-American, has made 10 field goals and 17 extra points (47 total points) on the season. He also has an OAC-best four touchbacks on kickoffs this season.
Capital, ranked No. 7 in the nation, takes on No. 11 ranked Ohio Northern University Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Bernlohr Stadium.
