#24 Men's Soccer Cruises Past The 'Berg

(COLUMBUS, Ohio)---Capital University's men's soccer team used an 18th minute goal and solid defense to shut out Heidelberg College 1-0 in an Ohio Athletic Conference match Saturday at the Columbus Crew Stadium in Columbus, Ohio.

Senior Heath Oberle (Westerville/Westerville South) had four shots on the day, and in the 18th minute off a feed from senior Josh Thompson (Gahanna/Gahanna Lincoln) he was able to put a header into the back of the net for the only score of the game.

Capital was able to hold onto its lead for the entire match due to excellent play from junior goalkeeper John Snyder (Columbus/Thomas Worthington) who finished the game with five saves, many of them in acrobatic fashion.

With the win, the Crusaders (10-1-3, 3-1-1 OAC) now move past Heidelberg (7-7-0, 3-2-0 OAC) in the conference standings.  Coming into Saturday's OAC matchups, the Student Princes were tied with three other teams at the top of the standings.

Capital will hit the road Tuesday to take on Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio.
