(AUSTINTOWN, Ohio)--Capital University junior safety C.J. Steele (Hilliard/Bishop Watterson) and sophomore punter Tom Gantner (Reynoldsburg/Bishop Hartley) were named Ohio Athletic Conference Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week.
Steele had a career-high 11 tackles and a pair of interceptions, while Gantner averaged 42.3 yards per punt, put four inside the 20-yard-line and had a career-best 55-yard punt in the Crusaders 24-6 win against then No. 11-ranked Ohio Northern University last week.
On the season, Steele has a team-high four interceptions and is fourth on the team in tackles with 25 stops. Gantner has punted 30 times with a 39.1 yard average with 12 punts ending up inside the opponents 20-yard-line.
Steele, an Accounting major, is the son of Art and Diana Steele of Hilliard.
Gantner, an Athletic Training/Pre-Physical Therapy major, is the son of Jim and Terri Gantner of Reynoldsburg.
