Balanced Effort Propels Volleyball Past John Carroll

Capital University's volleyball team used at least nine kills from four different players to defeat John Carroll University 3-1 in an Ohio Athletic Conference match-up Tuesday at The Capital Center.

The Crusaders held an eight-point advantage two different times in game one and were able to hold off the Blue Streaks to the tune of a 30-28 win.  Neither team led by more than four points in game two which was taken by John Carroll, 30-27.  Capital ended games three and four on respective 7-1 and 7-2 runs to put the match away 3-1.

Senior Jessie Hampson (Lancaster/Lancaster) and junior Jackie Helm (Lancaster/Fisher Catholic) each had 17 kills in the match and two services aces a piece.  The Crusaders tallied 12 service aces as team.  Also, sophomores Sarah Gallik (Chagrin Falls/Kenston) and Allison Hostetler (Dalton/Dalton) turned in 13 and 9 kills respectively.

The Crusaders (18-8, 3-3 OAC) will take on Ohio Northern Saturday at 1 p.m. in Ada, Ohio.
