Cadet Chain of Command

Cadets learn leadership by following and by example. Then comes the time when they must lead and complete the training cycle, honing their skills by practicing them in a realistic environment. With progression in rank comes an increase in responsibility, and so some leadership positions change each semester. While in training, one has the chance to hold various Cadet Battalion duty positions, which range from Platoon Sergeant to Battalion Commander. Each is important, and each affords different challenges. Do you want to be the next first sergeant, or battalion commander? If so, come see us; "ROTC, the best leadership course in America."

Capital University's Task Force Crusaders are consistently meeting the challenges faced by a changing Army. The need for well-trained officers is great and leadership excellence is the standard. In the past four years, Capital has experienced tremendous growth within its Cadet Corps, as well as continued support from the university. Scholarship numbers speak for themselves as we bring in two-, three-, and four-year winners. The Army ROTC program at Capital University is on the leading edge of the sword of excellence.

Partnership Schools for Capital University Army ROTC

The Task Force Crusaders pools cadets from seven "partnership" universities. Cadets attend their university in pursuit of their chosen degree, but take Military Science courses on Capital's campus. Listed below are short descriptions of each partnership school, and links where available.

Columbus College of Art and Design (CCAD)

The seventh largest accredited private college of art and design, CCAD offers many degrees in visual arts.  Located in Columbus, the campus is close to Capital University as well as several other university campuses.

Denison University

Located in Granville, Ohio, 27 miles east of Columbus. Denison University offers bachelor's degrees in many fields, has a student to teacher ration of 12:1.

DeVry University

Designed to integrate general education, technology, and business, DeVry University offers bachelor's degrees in many technical disciplines. Its campus is one mile from Capital University.

Franklin University

Also centrally located in downtown Columbus, Franklin University offers bachelor's degrees in many fields, and offers a Master of Business Administration program.

Ohio Dominican College

Located in downtown Columbus, Ohio Dominican University offers many degree programs, from four year bachelor's degrees to combination three/two year combined degrees.

Ohio Wesleyan University

Located in Granville, Ohio Wesleyan University offers many degree programs, from four year bachelor's degrees to combination three/two year combined degrees.

Otterbein College

Located in nearby Westerville, Otterbein College offers a wide range of bachelor's degrees as well as six different master's disciplines.

Out of the Past, Came the Task Force Crusaders of Today...

Capital's Army ROTC program has experienced tremendous growth within the past few years. Its program has gone from being a cross-enrolled part of Franklin University, to becoming its own extension Army ROTC program.  Capital now hosts seven partnership schools.

In 1992, Franklin University's professor of military science consulted with Capital University faculty concerning the need to move Army ROTC to Capital due to increased participation. This increase was brought about by Capital's willingness to recognize Army ROTC as a positive part of the college experience. Through further coordination and approval from both the university and Cadet Command, the department of military science became a reality at Capital University.
