Services & Programs

Capital’s student-centered approach to education extends far beyond the classroom to focus on your needs and interests as they evolve throughout your college career.

Center for Computational Studies

Capital’s computational studies minor is at the cutting edge of education. And we’ve got the hardware to match. You’ll be able to power-crunch numbers like the pros in two on-campus labs: the Advanced Computational Laboratory and the Battelle Visualization Laboratory. Looking for more power? Capital’s Computational Studies students also have the opportunity to use supercomputers at the Ohio Supercomputer Center.

Honors Program

If you have a passion for academics — and an ACT score to match — you may be invited to join Capital's Honors Program. This distinctive program combines intensive learning with the support of a friendly community of fellow honors students. Weekly seminars allow you to explore new topics in an informal environment, and you will be encouraged to participate in the annual Honors Day Symposium on Undergraduate Scholarship. You will also have priority for class registration; the opportunity to join honors-based organizations, and even a chance to live on our honors floor in Cotterman Hall.

Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching

Make the most of your Capital experience with the resources available at the Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT). Our peer tutors are trained to help you study, write and think more effectively in a variety of subjects, from business to writing. Enhance your learning skills through academic coaching, which offers tips and assessment on a number of essential skills like note-taking and test-taking. CELT also facilitates accommodations for individuals with disabilities.

Library Resources

From online databases and e-books to thousands of books and periodicals, the Josiah H. Blackmore Library is your first stop for all your research needs. Librarians are available to help you in your search. And as a member of the shared OhioLINK Catalog, you’ll have access to more than 40 million library items located throughout the state.

Study Abroad Program

Cross borders through Capital’s International Education Office, which coordinates study abroad trips including:

  • Music in Hungary
  • Music exchange program in Dresden, Germany
  • Nursing exchanges to Sweden

Capital also works closely with international study organizations like the College Consortium for International Studies and Australearn to provide you even more opportunities to study abroad.

Summer Institute in Science and Mathematics

Complete a whole year of science or math in just four weeks with our accelerated Summer Institute in Science and Mathematics. Choose from 11 courses, including calculus, computational studies and organic chemistry.

Technology

Capital works to stay at the forefront of technology. The whole campus is wired for high-speed internet access, and some buildings also offer wireless computing. Take advantage of computer labs in the library, the Campus Center and residence halls. Need more specialized functions? Specialized computer labs are available for high-powered data crunching, and our Multimedia Lab gives you access to current imaging and digital video software.
