Well.

Where do I begin?

Perhaps I should introduce myself first.

My name is Heather Raquel Harper, and I am a first-year here at Capital University. I am a psychology/pre-law major. I graduated from Wauseon High School in Wauseon, Ohio (no kidding). For all of you who are saying ‘uhm…Wauseon?’ let me explain. Wauseon is in Northwest Ohio, approximately 30 minutes west of Toledo if you take the Ohio Turnpike, exit 108 to be exact. It’s a pretty small town; I graduated from a class of 185 or so, but its home. I have lived there for four years, and before Wauseon, I lived in Lebanon, OH (which is in the Cincinnati-Dayton area). I have a brother who is 14 and I live with my mama =). In high school I was involved in the marching band’s auxiliary, speech team, theatre, and various other things. I was crowned my town’s homecoming queen this summer, which is pretty cool. Here at Capital, I am involved in Orchesis Dance Ensemble and Campus Crusades for Christ. I am on the communications team in the admissions office, and I am also a student ambassador. Some random facts about me…I don’t like scary movies or the dark, I don’t watch Grey’s Anatomy; I watch Gossip Girl, ANTM, and Samantha Who, I love the Notre Dame Fighting Irish (even with their record this year), and I absolutely love Stephen Colbert. I think that’s it for me.

So, this week I scheduled my classes for the first time. Well, okay, I scheduled classes BY MYSELF for the first time, because in the summer I basically had an advisor help me out… a lot. This was very exciting and somewhat stressful, as there are SO many classes I can take. I ended up with 18 credit hours, which seems like a lot, but it really isn’t for me. I am also very excited for next semester, and for two reasons. (Well, probably more than that, but here are the two major ones) One: I am going to be a research assistant in the psych department for a research project on academic advising. This is so exciting for me, because even though I’m a first-year, I still get the opportunity to do things like this! And, two: all of my classes start after 11 am. (What? A girl’s gotta get her sleep :D)

This weekend I will be working the Fall Open House for prospective Capital students. (If you are coming, and see me walking around, come and say hi! I don’t bite!) I am really excited, (even though I have to get up at 6:30…boo) because I love getting students as excited for Capital as I am. I think it will be a good time, and I’ll get to wear my sweet purple student ambassador shirt. Woooo! ?

OH! Last night I went to my first ever free burrito night at Chipotle. I know it sounds crazy, but before I came to Capital, I had never had Chipotle. Gasp! I know, insane right? Anyways, last night my friends and I donned our aluminum foil (I had a foiled tiara and matching jewelry) and went to get our free burritos! The line was 1 ½ long, but hey, it’s free food, and I’m a college student for goodness sake.

I think that’s it for now. I hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

Peace and happiness,
<3heather
