Hampson Honored as OAC Player of the Year for Second Time

(AUSTINTOWN, Ohio) – Capital University senior middle hitter Jessie Hampson (Lancaster/Lancaster) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Player of the Year for the second time in three seasons on Tuesday. She also earned the distinction following the 2005 season.

Hampson led the OAC with a .406 hitting percentage, a mark that also ranks third in the nation. She also led the OAC in blocks (188) and ranked second nationally in that category. Her 513 kills were the third most in the conference this season.

In just three seasons at Capital, Hampson set the school’s career record for total blocks and block assists. In 2005, she broke the single-season marks for total blocks and block assists, and she broke the single-season record for blocks solo this season with 83.

Hampson finishes her career at Capital with 1,338 kills, a .372 hitting percentage, 729 digs and 574 total blocks.

Also being honored on the OAC teams was sophomore middle hitter Allison Hostetler (Dalton/Dalton), who was fourth in the OAC in total blocks with 117. She played in all 31 matches and finished third on the team with 218 kills and second in hitting percentage at .331.
