Capital University will make its fourth overall and third-straight appearance in the NCAA Division III Football Playoffs when the Crusaders take on The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Warhawks in a first round game Saturday, Nov. 17, at 1 p.m. at Perkins Stadium in Whitewater, Wisconsin.
In each of the last two seasons, both teams were eliminated from the playoffs by eventual national champion Mount Union College. For Capital, it was a pair of three point defeats in the national quarterfinals, while UW-Whitewater lost each of the last national championship game Stagg Bowls.
The Crusaders (8-2) finished second in the Ohio Athletic Conference, claimed one of seven national at-large spots and is the No. 7 seed in the UW-Whitewater regional.
The Warhawks (9-1) are the region's top seed and an automatic qualifier into the playoffs after winning the championship of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC). Under first year head coach Lance Leipold, their only loss on the season is to NCAA Division II St. Cloud State (Minn.), 26-16.
Tickets are $10 for adults, $4 for seniors and students and go on sale Monday at the UW-Whitewater ticket office at (262) 472-2222 and will be available on game day at Perkins Stadium.
