Ohio Wesleyan 71, #20 Capital 61
(DELAWARE, Ohio)--Capital University's women's basketball team suffered its first loss of the season Saturday with a 71-61 defeat to Ohio Wesleyan University at the Hoops for Hope Tournament in Delaware, Ohio.
Ohio Wesleyan never trailed in the contest as the Bishops moved to 3-1 overall on the season, while Capital, ranked No. 20 in the nation, sits at 3-1 after the loss.
Pam Quigney earned tournament MVP honors with a game-high 23 points to lead Ohio Wesleyan as the Bishops converted 25-of-51 shots for the game including eight three-pointers.
Capital had three players in double figures as sophomore Kristen Richardson (Oxford/Talawanda) tallied 18 points, junior Caitlin Elsass (Batavia/Clermont Northeastern had a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds, while senior Tiffany Withers (Pickerington/Pickerington Central) had 10 points. The Crusaders, which trailed 36-33 at halftime, managed to make only 9-of-30 second half shots and was just 4-of-14 from beyond the arc for the game.
The Crusaders next game will be the Ohio Athletic Conference opener Saturday, Dec. 1, at 3 p.m. at conference rival Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio.
