(STERLING, Va.)---Five members of Capital University's football team were named to the D3Football.com All-North Region Team.
Senior offensive tackle Adam Persing (Springfield Twp./Springfield Local) and senior defensive back James Starks (Toledo/Toledo St. Francis) were named to the North Region's first team. Persing started all eleven games on the line for Capital, while Starks, the Ohio Athletic Conference's defensive back of the year, finished the season with a team-leading 59 tackles, seven tackles for loss, three interceptions, seven pass break-ups, two forced fumbles, and two blocked kicks.
Receiving second team honors were senior placekicker Matt Spitz (Xenia/Xenia) and senior defensive tackle Jonathan Spring (Maple Heights/Trinity). Spitz finished the season 26 of 28 on PAT's and 15 of 23 on field goals with a long of 47, while Spring totaled a team-leading 18 tackles for loss and 9.5 sacks.
Capital's lone third-team selection was senior defensive end Nick Bucci (Hudson/Hudson). Bucci led the Crusaders with 10.5 sacks on the season.
