(WACO, Texas)--Capital University senior defensive back James Starks (Toledo/Toledo St. Francis) was named an All-American by the American Football Coaches Association.
Starks, an All-OAC first team selection, became fifth Crusader and second in the last three years to receive the Tressel Award for the most outstanding defensive back in the conference. Starks finished the season with a team-leading 59 tackles, seven tackles for loss, three interceptions, seven pass break-ups, two forced fumbles, and two blocked kicks.
He was also chosen as one of 50 NCAA Division III players to compete in the Aztec Bowl last week in Mexico. Starks registered two tackles in the Team USA's 37-19 win over Team Mexico.
