Starks, Persing and Spring Named to D3Football.com All-American Teams

(RESTON, Va.)--Capital University seniors in defensive back James Starks (Toledo/Toledo St. Francis), offensive lineman Adam Persing (Springfield Twp./Springfield Local) and defensive lineman Jonathan Spring (Maple Heights/Trinity) were each named All-Americans by D3Football.com.

Starks is a consensus first team All-American as he was also named to the AFCA (American Football Coaches Association) All-American team.  Starks, a two-time All-OAC first team selection, became fifth Crusader and second in the last three years to receive the Tressel Award for the most outstanding defensive back in the conference.  Starks finished the season with a team-leading 59 tackles, seven tackles for loss, three interceptions, seven pass break-ups, two forced fumbles, and two blocked kicks.

Persing was the only returning starter on offense from the 2006 team and started all 11 games and 24 consecutive games at left tackle.  He is a two-time All-OAC first team selection.

Spring was an All-OAC First Team selection tallied 38 tackles for the season and a team-leading 18 of them were for loss.  Spring also had 9.5 sacks on the season for a squad that set a school single-season record 50 sacks.
