McAlpin Named OAC Women's Basketball Player-of-the-Week

Fourth Different Crusader to Earn Conference Honor This Season
(AUSTINTOWN, Ohio)--Capital University junior Heather McAlpin (Cincinnati/Colerain) was named Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week.

McAlpin played a large role in No. 25 Capital's 90-51 win over Marietta College this past Saturday.  The junior guard stuffed the stat sheet by scoring a season-high 16 points on 7-of-12 shooting, grabbed seven rebounds, dished out six assists, while collecting two blocked shots and tying a season-high with three steals. 

McAlpin is averaging 7.3 points and 6.5 rebounds per contest this season, and she leads the Crusaders with 45 assists and 15 blocks on the season.  She is a psychology major and the daughter of Michael and Carolyn McAlpin of Cincinnati.

Capital next plays Wednesday, Jan. 9, at 7 p.m. traveling to Alliance, Ohio for an OAC matchup at Mount Union College.
