Oh my goodness, it is so cold! Where did that lovely 65 degree weather we had last week go?
So after a full week back at Cap and a redesign of my dorm room, I am glad to call Capital University home again. In the first week back, I think I have fully caught up with my friends here and ready to make some new memories.
In fact, at the moment I am in the process of making new friends as well. Last week I made the descision of signing up for Greek Recruitment! I went to the Greek Life Kick-Off last Thursday and met a lot of people in a short amount of time. I just hope I can remember names! Although I am excited for recruitment, I am also a little nervous. There are two weeks of recruitment parties, and then the third week is invite only! It’s nervewracking, but I think it will all be for the better! I am so excited to meet new people and hopefully join Capital’s Greek Community.
In other news, I have been doing a lot of reading lately. This kind of terrifies me.
No, no. Don’t get me wrong. I love reading. In fact, I was the little kid in the third grade that the teacher had to say ‘put that book down and pay attention’. I’m serious.
It’s just the fact that I know that all this reading isn’t just going to be for fun and leisure. My textbook and I are not going to gallop down the yellow brick road to Oz and live happily ever after. No, because my textbook is actually leading me down the path of the term paper. And I know its coming soon. I’m just waiting until it hits.
Speaking of which, I would like to offer a little advice for the high school/college student, or actually just about anybody who writes papers. Have someone proofread it for you. Really and honestly. I am the biggest stickler for grammar and spelling on this side of Columbus, but sometimes I don’t catch my own mistakes, and neither does lovely Microsoft Word. (which I have an interesting relationship with.) Other people are more likely to catch small mistakes. It works wonders, I swear. And they might be able to offer some hints and tips as well.
Well, on that note, I think it’s time to adjourn.
Peace and happiness,
<3 heather
PS. While we are talking about grammar, would it hurt people to use ‘good’ and ‘well’ in their correct forms and not use ‘she’, ‘he’, or ‘it’ with the contraction ‘don’t’? Thanks. It would make for a much happier Heather. :D
