The Trumpet Studio
The Capital Trumpet Studio has been very strong over the years, emphasizing versatility in a variety of musical skills and genres. Students study the fundamentals of trumpet playing in addition to the literature required to elevate their skills and performance in support of the conservatory's fine ensembles and to prepare the students for a career as professional musicians, educators and furthering studies in graduate school. The following information may be helpful in understanding the goals and expectations of our studio.
The Trumpet Ensemble
Capital University's Conservatory of Music has many fine chamber ensembles that enhance our students' musical experience. The Capital University Trumpet Ensemble is one of many chamber groups that are featured throughout the year, on and off-campus, performing standard literature and compositions by our talented composition faculty. The faculty and administration's support for this ensemble has made Capital's musical experience rich with the challenges of professional expectations and has provide a local and national stage for our students to flourish in our department.
The Capital University Trumpet Ensemble (CUTE) has performed for student recitals (1997-2007), Capital University Honors and Reading Band Clinics (2001-2006), The Ohio Chapter of the International Trumpet Guild (2003-2006) and has been honored to be semi-finalists for five consecutive years in the Trumpet Ensemble Division of the National Trumpet Competition in Fairfax, Virginia.
The Trumpet Ensemble performs works from the Renaissance to the 21st century including both classical and jazz styles. Works by Scheidt, LoPresti, Ewazen, Altenburg, Thomas, Handel, and many others are part of the Trumpet Ensembles repertoire. Capital University composers Rocky J. Reuter and Anthony Zilincik were both featured composers at the 2005 National Trumpet Competition.

Graduates and Alumni
Over the past few years, Capital has had many fine students in all areas of music. The trumpet studio is no exception. We have many fine performers and music professionals in the US and abroad. Capital's musical programs have provided a wealth of challenging and inspiring experiences and have prepared the students for professional careers and graduate school. The following graduates and alumni are currently performing professionals, serving our country as military band members, continued on to graduate school or were recent competition winners.
