I'm from Northwest Ohio, but this is ridiculous.

It’s extremely cold out. No kidding. Like, subzero. This random guy told me to buck up, because he was from Buffalo, and this is nothing. Well, mister, I’m from Northwest Ohio, where we get lake effect snow. I know this is nothing, but usually when it gets this cold up there, we stay home or get a day off of school. I have to walk here regardless. So I’m complaining.

Anyways…. I want to tell you a story about a kinda cool college-y moment I had leaving the admissions office last Tuesday.

I was finished with my phoning for the evening, and I proceeded to walk outside when I was suddenly struck with complete silence. I looked up and snow was falling very gently in the dim light of the university street lamps. Then, all of a sudden, while I started up the ramp, the bell rang for 7:00 and the alma mater starting playing. It was so cool, because it was one of those moments where I was like ‘wow…I’m really, really truly in college and on my own now.’ And I proceeded to walk back to my residence hall. It was one of those cool experiences that I guess happens every once and awhile.

Now, onto some updates!

I am very excited to say last night started my long process of Greek Recruitment. I shared my first party with the sisters of Chi Theta Pi, and it was a lot of fun. They had a casino theme, and made us all feel very welcome. Tonight I will meet some of the sisters of Pi Phi Epsilon, and I am very excited! And then, tomorrow, I will meet the sisters of Zeta Pi Lambda, and brothers and sisters of Sigma Alpha Beta. And then next week contains a whole new set of parties! It’s exciting!

I feel as if I should be using the Capital Center more. I went in there recently for a class and saw that they added new hi-def TVs to the workout machines! How cool is that?! Maybe I’ll go tonight after the party? Hmmm…

In random, not really related to Capital news:
**I saw Juno this weekend, and it was so good. I cried twice. The Drexel across the street has Atonement, and due to the numerous golden globes awards that it won, I’m guessing it’s pretty good.
**Miss America is on this weekend, and I’m pumped. I was in a pageant for the last few summers, and my mother and I used to watch the pageants when they were on. I’m kinda sad she’s not here to watch it with me, but I’ll call her to check if she’s watching.
**The PACKERS LOST. I am so depressed. The Giants in no way deserve to go to the Super Bowl. I am very sorry if you are a Giants fan, but they went up against the Cowboys and Packers and crawled away with the victories. I hope the Patriots crush them until they cry
**Heath Ledger died today. How sad..

I think that’s it for random news.

Oh! I got a letter today! It was from my mom. You’d think that after the ridiculous amount of mail I received my senior year, I would be sick of getting mail. Psh. College students love mail. Especially packages. Especially packages that contain food or surprises. (hint, hint family members ? )

Well, I’m off to see the ladies of Pi Phi!

Love and happiness,
<3 heather

PS. My grandparents got a Wii today. My GRANDPARENTS. That’s not fair. I want a Wii to play with in my dorm room. Actually, my roommate just said that we’d probably never get anything done, and that’s probably 75% true. I have SOME self control. ;)
