Capital Hires Offensive Coordinator and Two Assistant Football Coaches
(COLUMBUS, Ohio)—Capital University has announced three additions to its football staff as Manny Matsakis has been named offensive coordinator, while Henry Stanford and Robert White have been named offensive assistant coaches.

Capital Names Jim Bickel Head Football Coach
Capital University president Dr. Denvy Bowman has announced that Jim Bickel has been named head football coach. Bickel is the ninth head football coach in school history and has spent the last seven seasons as associate head coach/defensive coordinator.
Football Finishes No. 13 and No. 15 in Final National Polls
Capital University's football team finished the season nationally ranked in both top 25 polls.  The Crusaders are ranked No. 13 in the D3Football.com poll and No. 15 in the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA)/USA Today Top 25 poll.  Capital went 8-3 in 2007, finished second in the Ohio Athletic Conference and made a third-straight appearance in the NCAA Division III Football Playoffs.

Collins Resigns to Take Job at Saginaw Valley State
(COLUMBUS, Ohio)--Capital University has announced that head football coach Jim Collins has resigned to accept the position as head football coach at Saginaw Valley State University in University Center, Michigan.

2007 Season Recap - Nationally Ranked Football Team Posts Another Successful Season
The Capital University football team wrapped up another successful season with an 8-3 record and a third consecutive trip to the NCAA Playoffs. The Crusaders were nationally ranked the entire season and posted their seventh straight winning season.

Gantner Named Football Gazette National Player of the Week
(NORTH AURORA, Ill.)--Capital University sophomore punter Tom Gantner (Reynoldsburg/Bishop Hartley) has been named Special Teams National Player of the Week by Football Gazette.  Gantner averaged 42.3 yards per punt, put four inside the 20-yard-line and had a career-best 55-yard punt in the Crusaders 24-6 win against then No. 11-ranked Ohio Northern University last week.

Blake Named National Player of the Week
(RESTON, Va.)--Capital University sophomore wide receiver Evan Blake (Kingston/Logan Elm) was named NCAA Division III National Offensive Player of the Week by Football Gazette and to the D3Football.com National Team of the Week. Blake caught 11 passes for a school-record 305 yards last week in the Cruasders 40-0 win at Wilmington.

Jim Collins Wins Lee Tressel Ohio College Coach of the Year Award
(AUSTINTOWN, Ohio)--Capital University head football coach Jim Collins has been selected to receive the 2006 Lee Tressel Ohio College Coach-of-the-Year Award. Collins will be honored at the 19th Annual Scholar-Athlete Awards Banquet of the Northeastern Ohio Chapter of the National Football Foundation. The banquet will be held on Tuesday, May 8 at LaCentre in Westlake.
