General Education Waiver Process

  • A waiver indicates that requirements for a GE Goal have been met and no further courses are needed
  • Receiving a waiver is not the same as receiving credit for a course.
  • Students can not attempt to waive a GE goal while they are enrolled in a GE course satisfying the same goal.
  • Normally, students can attempt to waive a GE goal only once.
Automatic Waivers

Students receive automatic waivers from the Registrar for GE Goals #1 and #3 based on their ACT or SAT test scores. The minimum score must be achieved on both ACT and SAT test scores.

Goal #1 College Reading and Writing
  • Minimum score of 28 on ACT English
  • Minimum score of 680 on SAT Verbal
  • Score of 4 or 5 in AP English (UC 110 waived, plus course credit)
Goal #3 Quantitative Reasoning
  • Minimum score of 28 on ACT Math
  • Minimum score of 670 on SAT Math

There is no fee for the automatic waiver.
