Off and Running!

So as I mentioned in my last blog, I was considering a run for Student Government President. I have since decided to instead run for the SG Senate, where I believe I’ll have more time to devote to helping students get through the many hoops that are laid before us. I’m also running to be a voice for those who are too shy and quiet about what they believe is necessary for Capital to succeed. It is imperative that every student is heard and given that all so special “Attention You Deserve”. I’ve also decided that I’m going to take my participation in Greek Life to another step, and run for the position of Greek Council President, where I know I can effectively change Greek policy on this campus. Members of Greek Life are the most involved students in the University and I believe this should be a selling point in recruiting new members. After serving a year on the GC Executive Board, I believe that I have the experience and know-how to improve the reputation of Greek Life. Finally (as if I’m not involved enough), I believe that I will run for President of Kappa Sigma Upsilon, the fraternity that I love as a second family. I think that I will offer a unique perspective as one who is heavily involved in Greek issues and understands that it is critical we recruit a large new member class next year, but can also balance the many social and service activities as well. KSU is very important to me, and I hope whoever wins the presidency is responsible enough to work for the well-being of the organization.

Now, after all those extra-curriculars, I also have to balance my course-load. I’ll be taking Research Methods next year, so I will be extremely busy all the time. Unlike many of the other majors on campus, the Political Science/Public Administration Research Methods course actually forces you to examine a topic, find established research, complete statistical tests, constantly test and retest your hypothesis, find a theoretical framework from which to work with. The program prepares you for an immediate job in government, private practice, or nonprofit. Public Administration is one of the most demanding majors offered at Capital University because it constantly challenges you. It helps you discover why people are conditioned to act, believe, and function the way they do. This allows us to create improved government policy, which in turn helps millions of America’s citizens to live better lives.

Finally, this Wednesday is the last day of school before we head back home for Easter Break! I am doubly excited to go home and see one of my best friends, Alix. She and I have been great friends since we met on the bus my sixth grade year, and she kindly pointed out that my “bloomers” were showing. She was right. From that day on we have always been there for one another, talking, consoling, laughing, working out, being lazy, and having an amazing time together. I can’t wait to see all my family and friends and hope you all have a Blessed Easter!

Congrats to the new Knights of Kappa Sigma Upsilon!!!

Shout out to Ryan Truini and his constant reading of my blog!

And as always….Stay Classy ;D
