Student Employment

Yes. Employment is a Form of Financial Aid!

Work-Study or Student Employment

You may receive federal work-study as part of your financial aid package. Work-study awards allow you to actively participate in meeting the cost of your education and can help you build your resume by giving you valuable work experience.

  • You receive work-study money directly, it is not applied to your tuition bill
  • Most work-study jobs average 10 hours per week
  • Work-study earnings are paid monthly and are adjusted for federal taxes
Work-Study Job Fair

A one-day job fair is held during fall orientation before semester classes begin. If you have been awarded work-study you can meet with prospective campus employers. Click here to see a list of current work-study job opportunities.

Campus Jobs

You can work on campus even if you do not receive work-study, though work-study students have preference in those jobs designated as work-study positions. And not all departments hire non-work-study students. But rest assured that you'll find many opportunities for employment at Capital or in the immediate campus area.

Direct Deposit

Direct deposit is mandatory for all new student workers at Capital University.  In addition to the federal tax, state tax, and I-9 Verification forms that all student workers are required to complete, students must also complete the Direct Deposit Authorization Form.  Students may visit: http://oldsite.capital.edu/cc/finance/forms/Direct_Deposit2.pdf to obtain the form for completion.  If you have any questions please feel free to contact the Student Payroll Office at 236-6575.

Types of On-Campus Jobs

You'll find many options for student work-study employment every semester. We categorize jobs in different levels based on the complexity of the tasks, the experience required to do the job and the pay rate.

  • Entry-level, basic to moderate skilled jobs.
  • Skilled job/revenue-enhancing units or difficult job conditions.
  • Highly skilled, para-professionals.

You should contact Capitals Financial Aid office at (614) 236-6511 or by e-mail at finaid@capital.edu if you have additional questions about work-study or the jobs available.
