(COLUMBUS, Ohio) - Capital University defensive back James Starks (Toledo/Toledo St. Francis) will participate in the Cincinnati Bengals' rookie mini-camp this weekend.
"This is a great opportunity for me and I want to make the most of it," Starks said. "I want to show the coaching staff what I can do."
Starks, a consensus All-American at corner back in 2007, finished the season with a team-leading 59 tackles, seven tackles for loss, three interceptions, seven pass break-ups, two forced fumbles, and two blocked kicks. He was also chosen as one of 50 NCAA Division III players to compete in the Aztec Bowl and was a First Team All-Ohio Athletic Conference selection.
Following the 2007 season, Starks was also honored by receiving the Lee Tressel Award for being the most outstanding defensive back in the conference.
In 36 career games, Starks recorded 172 tackles, including 15 for loss, to go along with 11 interceptions and 38 passes defended. He also blocked five kicks.
Starks will report to camp Thursday and go through two-a-days on both Friday and Saturday and another practice Sunday.
