Whaling Named OAC Player of the Year

(COLUMBUS, Ohio)-Capital University senior women's tennis player Kathryn Whaling (Richmond, Va./Worthington (Ohio) Christian) has been named the 2008 Ohio Athletic Conference's Player of the Year, as voted on by the league's coaches.

Whaling, the first Player of the Year in program history, went unbeaten in 12 matches at number one singles and went 7-6 in doubles competition. She was named the OAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week on March 17 following Capital's victory over the University of Northwestern Ohio.

Whaling is just the second Capital women's tennis player since 2005 to earn all-conference honors and the first since Hally Lorensen in 2002 to be named to the First Team.

The Crusaders finished 6-8 on the season and 4-5 in OAC play. The six wins were the most since the 2004 season.
