My summer break is over! How depressing is that?
After returning home for two weeks, seeing my friends, eating home-cooked meals, and smelling the sweet, sweet aromas of farm life, I am once again back at Capital! For the remainder of the summer I will be living in my new apartment off-campus in the Bexley Woods complex and working in both the Admissions Office and as an Orientation Leader at Cap. It was great going home and seeing everyone that I have missed over the past year, but I began to miss Columbus and the constant flow of things to do, people to meet, and places to be.
I have already started my other job here in Columbus as an intern to a Democratic state senator at the Statehouse. With the current media interest in the scandals in the attorney general’s office and the impeachment proceedings, there is no better time to be in the center of state government. The experiences I have garnered and will continue to accumulate will help me one day achieve my dream of serving in state legislature!
Orientation is coming up! Starting this Saturday, our first session of summer orientation will start at Capital. I promise to all those who coming that you will be in for a very fun time! Orientation leaders are extremely important to how well first-year students adjust to college. My orientation leaders in the fall (Pam Baker and Taylor Police) were key to me making some of the friends I have and the organizations I joined. I’m still really close to Pam, and Taylor has become one of my fraternity brothers in Kappa Sigma Upsilon! If you recognize me from my picture (handsome and debonair me) please feel free to come up and introduce yourself! I look forward to meeting a number of you!
I encourage everyone who is interested to schedule a tour of Capital and check out the Bexley area. This is a great time to visit, with all the down-time we have in the summer. If you do want to schedule a tour, please call 1-866-544-6175 and ask for our Visit Coordinator Ann. I hope everyone takes advantage of this!
Congrats to Senator Clinton on her impressive win in West Virginia and good luck in Kentucky!
GO REDS! Keep winning!
And remember, stay classy ;)
