Track & Field Garners Academic Honors From Coaches' Association

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) - Juniors Tana Myers (Ashland/Mapleton) and Doug Gibbons (Troy/Troy) earned All-Academic Track and Field honors for a second straight year, as did the entire women's team, by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Myers, an Early Childhood Education major, was a member of the 4x100 meter relay team that finished eighth at the NCAA Track & Field Championships in May. She has qualified and ran with the 4x100 team in each of the last two national championships.

Gibbons, a pole vaulter who is an Art and Theatre major, has a 3.72 GPA and was also named to the Academic All-OAC team. He's the school record-holder in the indoor pole vault with a mark of 15-5 and was named the OAC Field Athlete of the Week on Jan. 21.

Collectively, the women's track and field team ranked among the best in the nation with a cumulative 3.256 GPA. This is the second consecutive year that the women's team has been honored.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, student-athletes needed a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and to meet the NCAA Division III Indoor or Outdoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard in their respective event. A team must have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher to be recognized.
