It's Almost Time...

Hello everyone! I hope everyone had an amazing summer. If you were in Columbus, I'm sure you found **tons** to get into and if you were at home with family and friends, I hope you got all your visiting in because it's almost time to start back to school at Cap! Sadly, this will be my last year at Capital. But, this year will more than likely be the best year of them all!! I'm the President of Student Social Work Association and the College Democrats and I couldn't be more excited! In addition to everything I'll be doing with my organizations, I'm doing an internship at Buckeye Ranch 16 hours/week ( a placement is required the senior year for all social work majors). It's going to be awesome. I'm also taking 18 credit hours: Three social work classes and an adolescent psychology class. I really working with teenagers and I feel like that psychology class will give me some good insight. I'm also a crisis intervention specialist at a teen crisis center so that's been an amzaing experience! So, enough about me! Let's see, what's going on at good ole Cap? August 25th is the first day of classes but new students move in the week before so GOOD LUCK! Move in day is SO exciting. Here are some of my suggestions: 1. don't overfill tubs/boxes. Trying to fit everything in one box will only make it heavy, it will not make things easier. 2.Please, do not judge a book by it's cover. Yes, your new roommate may have bright pink accessories for her side of the room and you have tans and browns, but hey, opposites attract! Be friendly and make the best of your new roomie situation! 3. Be nice to all the people helping. It's hot and they're just as anxious as you to get everything moved in! 4. Enjoy yourself. Take a deep breath. Welcome to college life! AND...what else is exciting? Becuase I'm really into student organzations, the Studentn Organization Fair is going to be on the first Thursday after the first day of classes, so August 28th. Come out and sign up to be in some of the many organizations Capital has to offer such as: Dance Ensemble, College Democrats or Republicans, University Programming, Student Social Work Association (my fav!), or maybe you're into a music or community service group. There is literally, something for everyone! Well, this is it for now. Enjoy your last few weeks until school starts. And to prospective students: feel free to email me anyime at trichard@capital.edu to talk about Social Work, College Democrats, or just Capital in general! Adios!!
