Capital brings nearly 85 years of experience to its program offerings in the Conservatory of Music. That experience, combined with state-of-the-art Conservatory facilities, enables faculty and staff – who are performing professionals – to develop a school that offers unique advantages to its students.

Capital's Conservatory of Music is housed in one of the premier teaching and performing facilities in the Midwest. As a music major, you can choose from programs in such areas as performance, composition, music theatre, keyboard pedagogy or music education, or major in such non-traditional areas as music industry, music technology, jazz studies, music media or music merchandising.

Experience concerts, commissioned works, clinics and master classes with many notable artists.

Expand your career options with an off-campus internship and the opportunity for study at the internationally renowned Recording Workshop in Chillicothe, Ohio.

Explore the possibility of international music study. Only Capital University offers a semester of undergraduate study at the Zoltán Kodály Pedagogical Institute of Music in Hungary.

Vocalists gain experience through such groups as the Chapel Choir, the Choral Union, the Vocal Jazz Ensemble and the Opera/Musical Theatre program. Instrumentalists can sharpen their skills through small ensembles or larger performance groups such as the Wind Symphony and the Big Band. Students also can participate in the Capital University/Bexley Community Orchestra, which is built around a nucleus of Capital students joined by accomplished musicians from the Columbus metropolitan area.
