Sorry for not posting in so long. I have not been around a computer as much as I normally am. The past two weeks I have been away at band camps. So instead of being at my nice cozy house playing video games and working, I was outside either on a football field or pavement getting a nice tan and or sunburn. I look at band camps as the equivalent of summer internships, they are really helpful for music education majors. It puts you out in your field with different band directors and their styles; a perfect way to help mend your teaching philosophy. Last but not least, it is just a fun time overall just to go out and be with music for a couple of weeks with people that share the same passion as yourself.
With the first day of classes less than two weeks away, I have been frantically getting ready to move in. Finally after a summer of worrying I have a couch and kitchen table now for the Commons. For those of you who don’t know what the commons are, they are small townhouses owned by Capital for juniors and seniors. On top of packing I have started practicing for auditions for Wind Symphony or Symphonic Winds as well, getting up at 5:45am, getting to school at 7, practicing, work, then practicing again. It may look like a lot of work, but I’m enjoying it. I am so excited to get back. I miss all of my Cap friends and activities.
