Small Town Girl Dreaming of the Big City

Oh, my goodness.

I cannot believe I have only a few days left until I go back to Capital!! I am extremely excited.

So, my summer was very busy. I worked in the beginning of the summer as a student biology lab assistant for one of my favorite teachers in high school, and with another Cap student as well : ) When July rolled around, I began preparations for Wauseon's homecoming festival pageant. As the reigning queen, I needed to make sure everything would run smoothly for the new girls vying for the title. The pageant was fantastic, and I am happy for the new queen!

In August, I went to go visit my dad in Pennsylvania, which was really fun. I went to HersheyPark, and it was absolutely fantastic! The park was huge, and my brother and I rode almost every coaster, including one that went up an incline of 90 degrees. Surprisingly, I didn't eat much chocolate.

But, now it's late August, and I'm so pumped to get back to Capital. I miss Capital, Chi, and Columbus soooo much! (hm. That was ironic. They all started with C.)

Wow. So, funny story really quick. So, right now, I'm upstairs on my computer, when I'm surprised to hear my cell phone ring. I look and see it's my mom. Mind you, my mom is downstairs. I asked her why she called and she said that she is too lazy, and my new mattress pad (which she is trying out for the night) is much too comfortable to get up. Sigh. That's my family for you, I guess.

Anyways, I'm really excited for my year at Capital this year! I'm starting to get more into my major as far as classes go, and now that I'm a full sister of Chi Theta Pi, I get to participate in the sorority's events, like our annual slip and slide at the beginning of the year, our 9/11 car wash, and Greek Week!! I'm also pumped to live on Chi Hall this year with my big sister, which should be awesome.

Another thing I'm really pumped about is coming back to work for admissions. I've really missed going downstairs and Yochum and talking to all the counselors there. I can't wait to get back into the swing of things and start preparing for the Class of 2013!!! (woah...that's insane. 2013. I'm getting older..)

I am so psyched for 2012 to get to Capital. One of my best friends is coming to Capital this year, and I am so happy for her and all of her classmates to join our Cap family! Get ready guys! College is an awesome experience, and a whole new beginning to your life!

Speaking of 2012...my brother is starting high school this year. Which also makes me feel old. Goodness.

To all of the class of 2012, I will give you the advice that I gave some of my friends who are leaving for their first year of college soon. Remember that every single person in your class has never been to college before. (well...okay, maybe the clear majority of them, if extenuating circumstances exist) You all are in the same boat, and you all are probably nervous at least a bit. It's a lot easier to make friends this way, because you all have something in common! Don't be shy, and just be yourself. You'll do fine.

To the upcoming seniors in high school..get ready! You have a lot of life-altering decisions ahead of you!

...but don't forget to have fun too : )

Well, I guess that's it. I am so excited to see everyone back at Capital. If you ever see me around campus, please! Feel free to stop and chat.

Love and happiness
xoxoheather
