Changing Your Password

On April 15, 2008, Capital implemented a new password change policy, in which Capital users (faculty, staff and students) much change their passwords every 90 days for security purposes.

You should receive an e-mail reminder (sent to your Capital e-mail account only) 15 days prior to the expiration of your password. It is very important that you change your password prior to its expiration to alleviate disruption of service to the Portal, Web Advisor, Blackboard and E-mail.

If your password does expire, you will not be able to access these services and may get an error message stating "user not recognized" or "user name and password not valid." If you get this message, you should go to: https://pwchange.capital.edu/ to change your password immediately.

 Mac Users please see this document:  PWCHANGE.PDF

Please read the information below carefully and note the password complexity requirements:

  • Passwords must be a minimum of 7 characters long;
  • Passwords cannot contain any part of your user name, social security number, ID number, first or last name, or old password;
  • Must contain three of the following criteria:

  • o At least one lower-case letter
