Documenting Tuition and Living Costs
International students who need to come to the U.S. on an F-1 student visa status are required by U.S. law to document that they have sufficient money to live and study in the U.S. for at least one academic year.
- Students must provide this documentation to the university.
- Keep a set of the documents to use to apply for the F-1 visa with the U.S. Consulate office.
- Click here to determine the amount you need to document for your program section.
- It is very important for the financial sponsor to be honest about their plan to support you. You will be expected to pay for all school tuition and fees upon your arrival to Capital University.
- Fraudulent bank statements will result in an admission denial
To assist you with this process, Capital University has prepared an "affidavit-of-support" form to be prepared by every financial sponsor.
- An original bank statement with the sponsor’s name must be submitted with the "affidavit-of-support" form. (faxes, photocopies or internet printouts will not be accepted.)
- If the bank statement is in another language, please provide an official English translation with the original bank statement
- The "affidavit-of-support" form is not required if you are providing your own living and tuition costs. You will still need to provide an original bank statement in your name.
