CRUSADERS BLANK BLUE KNIGHTS, 3-0

URBANA, Ohio – Visiting Capital scored in the second minute of the contest and never looked back in a 3-0 non-conference men’s soccer victory at Urbana on Tuesday.  With the victory, CU improved to 2-0-0 on the season.

Senior Joey Snyder (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington HS) gave Capital the jumpstart it needed when he found the back of the next just 110 seconds into the contest off assists from junior Michael Gregory (Westerville, Ohio/Westerville South HS) and freshman Daniel McCarthy (Centerville, Ohio/Archbishop Alter HS).

Another McCarthy scored just after halftime to increase the lead for the Crusaders as current OAC Player of the Week Steven McCarthy (Centerville, Ohio/Archbishop Alter HS) tallied an unassisted goal, his third of the season in just two games played for a 2-0 CU advantage.

Gregory added an unassisted goal of his own for Capital in the 67th minute to aid solid goalkeeping efforts by the duo of sophomore Justin Bultman (Maineville, Ohio/Kings HS) and freshman Steve Francis (Alliance, Ohio/Marlington HS) who combined to record Cu’s first shutout of the season.

The Crusaders held a 17-7 advantage in shots and a 6-4 edge in corner kicks while forcing the Blue Knight goalkeeper to make eight saves in the match.

Capital will return to action this weekend with matches against Grove City (Fri., 5 p.m. ET) and MacMurray (Sat., 4 p.m. ET) at the adidas Ohio Wesleyan Invitational.
