SNYDER GIVES CAPITAL BIG WIN OVER GROVE CITY

DELAWARE, Ohio – Senior Joey Snyder (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington HS) found the back of the net twice in the first half to put Capital ahead for good in a 6-2 victory against Grove City at the adidas Ohio Wesleyan Invitational on Friday afternoon.

Snyder was one of two Crusaders to tally multiple points as Capital improved to 3-0-0 on the season heading into Saturday’s matchup with McMurray at 4 p.m. ET.  The offensive outburst marked the second time this season that the Crusaders have scored six goals in a contest

CU got off to a great start as the duo of freshman Daniel McCarthy (Centerville, Ohio/Archbishop Alter HS) and junior Steven McCarthy (Centerville, Ohio/Archbishop Alter HS) combined to score Capital’s first goal in the fourth minute of action.  Daniel scored at the 3:27 mark with a header off a cross by his older brother Steven McCarthy.  The junior then got a feed from senior Tyler Mowbray (Centerville, Ohio/Alter HS) for another goal just 8:15 into the contest for a 2-0 Crusader lead.

Grove City countered with goals at the 12:13 and 16:03 marks to even the tally at 2-all before Snyder regained control for Capital.  The CU senior forward put a shot past the goalie from the right side in the 27th minute to regain the lead for the Crusaders.  Snyder then drilled another goal into the back of the next from 20 yards out to give Capital a 4-2 advantage heading into halftime.

The Crusaders added goals by Kevin Doran (Lewis Center, Ohio/Olentangy HS) in the 50th minute and Michael Gregory (Westerville, Ohio/Westerville South HS) in the 76th minute and out shot Grove City 28-10 overall en route to a 6-2 victory.

Justin Bultman (Maineville, Ohio/Kings HS) played all 90 minutes in goal for Capital and made six saves while earning his third victory of the season.
