MEN’S GOLF BEGINS WITH SOGGY FIRST ROUND AT KISOR INVITE

PATASKALA, Ohio – The 2008-2009 edition of Capital men’s golf began its fall season in seventh place out of nine teams following the first of two rounds at the Auld Crafters Kisor Classic on Friday.

 

Nine Crusaders took to the course following a one hour rain delay on Friday morning.  CU played through the wet conditions to post a team score of 326, which was just two shots shy of sixth place (Walsh) and 12 shots back of fifth (SUNY Delhi).  Co-host Ohio Dominican led all teams with a first round total of 291.

 

Junior James Koon (Bexley, Ohio/Bexley HS) led all Crusaders with a first round score of 76.  Classmates Chas Manning (Granville, Ohio/Granville HS) and Dan Zaborsky (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Scioto HS) followed with an 82 and 83 respectively.  Sophomore Chad Thurkette (Lancaster, Ohio/Lancaster HS) carded an 85 while junior Andy Garcia (Miami, Fla./Palmetto HS) closed out the competitors designated for CU team scoring with a 90.

 

Four other Crusaders competed as individuals with sophomore Nate Delong (Circleville, Ohio/Logan Elm HS) leading the way with a score of 82.  Freshman Stephen Moller (London, Ohio/Madison Plains HS) carded an 84 while classmate Cameron Baker (Lima, Ohio/Spencerville HS) and sophomore Jordan Flack (Chillicothe, Ohio/Huntington HS) each had an 87.

 

Capital will conclude play at the Auld Crafters Kisor Classic with one more round of play on Saturday beginning at 10:16 a.m. ET.
